Lighting. Has anyone else noticed how this seems to be the forgotten stepchild of home decor? I've seen so many wonderfully decorated rooms ruined by an ill-placed overhead light or a cold, harsh light where a softer glow would have better suited the arrangement.
It's because of this that the fluorescent light bulb craze has been slow to grow on me. Yes, I want to save energy and money just as much as the next person, but not with harsh, neon-white light staring back at me, shattering the homey, warm feeling I've tried to create throughout my home.
I've tried all sorts of fluorescent bulbs throughout the years. Those that have claimed to be "soft white," those that have claimed to be "warm" and none have reached the quality of the regular old, soft white bulbs in terms of lighting warmth quality.
Until now. Check these out. These are relatively inexpensive as fluorescent bulbs go and, better yet, their light quality is lovely. If you're like me and haven't found a fluorescent bulb you like yet, give these a go. I've been tremendously impressed.

I will definitely give these a try! Although I do suffer from the issue of poor lights and bad lighting, so I might have bigger issues than just the lightbulbs.
I also think you're more likely to get these for Christmas than what is requested in your prior post (...not that I don't completely support the request in the prior post!). - Holly
Is "Soft White" the brand name?
No, I think it's "Great Value"...
You may be right. Ambiguous, I'd say. Could be "Lasts up to 9 years!" or "Save &47". Anyhow I do approve of these and have used various kinds. Especially for overhead fixtures that are fiddly to change, and are apt to be inadvertently left on. I seem to have a lot of those. Of course for those I'm not so concerned about the quality of the light.
The brand is just Walmart's off brand and, believe me, I was not expecting to find bulbs I liked there. I bought them thinking, like you, Pru, that I'd use them in dumb places I never really go, but I tried them and have liked them better than any of the others I've tried.
Oh no! I have to go to Walmart? I don't think we even have one around here.
LOL, yes, that is the downside. Just close your eyes, plug your ears and run really quickly back to the lighting section.
Awesome!! I wish I could sneak them into one of my dear friend's home. She has a BRAND NEW house but the entire thing is lit by flourescent lighting! During the day the house is fab. At night I want to throw up. How do I politely tell her? I know she's saving money, but still. Just doesn't do a new home justice! I should get her these for Christmas.
