I've seen others complain about this. I'm not sure why it's such a big dealj. It only takes a second to provide the info for a Google accoumt. There are lots more annoying things in life!
I, like you, would take the time to register if I wanted to comment but, like Joe, for instance, wouldn't bother, and I think there are many like him.
I just don't understand why Google is doing it. It's their choice, but I just don't like it.
If I were really annoyed though I'd have switched hosts and I'm nowhere near motivated enough for that. Yet, anyway.
Get motivated to switch. Like Joe, I am one who will not take the time to register. Google will use registration as a gimmick for future sales and profits.
So how did he just post that without registering? I think the bigger complaint is that bloggers who use other systems can no longer easily link to their own blogs when they comment. For serious big-time bloggers, leaving comments on other blogs is a way of attracting new traffic.
