I'm taking suggestions. We're desperate here for girl names for this new little girl. We have a couple favorites, but nothing that we have hit upon where we've thought, "Ah ha! That's it!" For what it's worth, we had those moments with the three other kids' names. Heck, we've had that moment for this baby's just-in-case boy's name. But for a girl? Nope.
I feel like I've gone through every baby name book, every on-line baby site and our family tree about 8 million times and yet, still, nothing.
We need suggestions. Lots and lots of suggestions. No criteria, really. We tend to prefer family names and are, obviously, pretty traditional in our name choices, but at this point we're open to anything that we like. Suggest away!

We had to think of a plethera of names and one of our top 5 girl names was "Elise/Elyse". Still love it :)
Good luck...she can't go nameless forever!!
Eleanor, Margaret, Alice, Frances, Eileen, Katherine, Ingrid, Eva, Stella, Sylvia, Mae?
What's not to love about Baby Ruth?
I really like Violet...but my husband says one flower name per family is enough.
I like Elise/ Elyse too--it was on our list.
Claire and Lily's names I loved. We didn't love Isabel's, just really liked it, and now I can't imagine a different name for her. Whatever you pick...it will grow with her (and on you).
You've probably already seen it, but this website is great for name ideas:
http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/
I can totally see you guys with an Annie or Alice...
How about Caroline, Harriet, Esther or Ruby?
I LOVE this game...I always had girl names but no girls to use them on. :)
I can't wait to hear what you decide!
Amy
Amelia, Jillian, Julia, Gretchen, Gwenyth, Catherine, Anne, Josephine, Olivia.
Don't worry, I can think of more.
OK, first of all, the two names I like best and have been lobbying for have both been suggested, and the one name poor Joe has been wanting has NOT been suggested. I wonder if that will work in my favor.
Thanks everyone, for all the suggestions so far. I'll take more as you have them! :-)
Catharine - isn't that your grandmother's name and how it was spelled?
Isabel or Caroline are really nice and go well with Madeline and Elisabeth.
Whatever you pick, it has to go with the classic and traditional names of your other daughters.
Please don't give her an old-lady name!
Diana
I concur with Di's ideas with respect to Isabel or Caroline.......Not Blanche, THAT's for sure! (Blanche was a name used for those 60's commercials..LOLOL).
Madeleine,Elisabeth, Hank and Blanche...has quite a ring to it....just kidding (LOL).
Seriously, Amelia also sounds good.
How about Caithness? I also think that Caroline is another of those good classic names. And weren't you partial to Charlotte at one time. That's one I've always loved.
Anna? Hannah? Or were they on a master list ... Is there a master list ... Should it be, mistress list?
OK, my favorite name has been suggested at least three times. Can't wait to show Joe...
Jane (social work), Eleanor (peace work), Rachel (environmental), Emilia (the brave), Marie or her sister Eva (the inventors), Stephanie (my grandmother!)...
One of my daughters' name has cropped up several times on these lists and obviously I think that's super cool. The other, like Hannah (which actually rhymes with Susannah), has not.
So there you have it!
Some of the good ones mentioned have, as you know, already been "taken" in our extended family, though no reason not to repeat. Other ideas: Lucy. Justine. Vanessa. Sarah. Eve. Rachel. Susannah. Marisa. Annabelle.
not elise--too close to elisabeth...
margaret
alice
violet
charlotte
oooooh i absolutely love those four!!!
My current favs, any of which I could probably be talked into: Caroline, Anna, Margaret (Maggie), Charlotte and Sarah, with Caroline and Anna being my favorite favorites. Joe is partial to Clara.
I'm sure I'll have new favorites next week.
good group! My only slight reservation about all the ones that end with the "a" sound is that they don't flow quite so well when combined with Olson - you get that hard little "uh-oh" in the middle.
