Snowed In

Wisconsinites have been talking about our expected snowstorm for days. Usually when there's so much hype we end up getting about two flakes and rolling our eyes about how catastrophic those who predict the weather make a snowstorm sound. We live in Wisconsin, for pity's sake. We know snow.

But this morning did not disappoint. Weather experts are calling this morning's blizzard the worst snowstorm this area of the state has seen in seven years. Schools were cancelled. Joe played hooky.

Madeleine and Hank threw on their snow gear and were out flinging snow at each other by 7:30, shown here:

They were back in for oatmeal and toast by 9:00.

It's 11:30 now and it's still snowing and the kids are back out, along with the 3,700 other kids on our block. These are the days I especially love living in Wisconsin.

I am also snowed in here in Silver Lake, although I can probably drive the Jeep out of the driveway.

You should see Buckley trying to get around in the snow!! (LOL). (Hope I don't lose him in the snow bank!)

One could say that global warming took the day off today.

Hi Cait! We're ICED in down here in Illinois. Been without power for almost 2 days now. It's not fun but we are lucky to have someplace to stay to keep warm and sleep. Any suggestions for keeping a 3-year old boy occupied?! He is bored out of his mind and driving me batty!! Val ~ vwcphotography@insightbb.com ~ purple-valley.blogspot.com

Cait - we did not get quite as much snow, but it is snowing here again today and everything looks beautiful and white - for now at least! Love that photo - it is for sure frameworthy!!!

I'd like to tell you that I miss the snow... but I'd be lying. Looks like the kids are having a blast!
