Nice White

I'm a red wine girl. I'm not a seasonal red wine drinker; it's my drink of choice all year long.

However, the other day I picked up this el cheapo ($9 a bottle) bottle of white on a lark. Well, wait- I have to be honest: I never spend more than $10 on a bottle of wine. Ever. OK, maybe at a restaurant once in a blue moon, but I generally find bottles I like in the less than $10 a bottle range and I stick to that price point. So. The sommelier at a local store I trust recommended the above bottle of Goats do Roam. It's a white blend and it's wonderful. It's crisp. It's fresh. It's that perfect blend of just dry enough to not be sweet but not too dry.

Like I said, I'm a red wine girl, but this bottle may steer me off course for awhile as the weather stays nice.

I went back to Sendiks the other week to buy some more Sexto. They were all out, and the dept. manager told me to try out "Mad Dogs & Englishmen" Cab. Sav, Shiraz, Monastrell 2006. It was $7.99 and while it is not as good as Sexto...it's pretty good.

He said that demand for Sexto went up and consequently the price went up as well. Boo Hoo!

Thanks for the recommendation. I, too, am a red wine girl, but I'm always on the lookout for a good white. Those that aren't too sweet are so difficult to find. And like you, I don't do more expensive bottles of wine very often. We usually stick to $10-12 and have found there are lots of really nice wines in that category. My favorites still linger in the $20-30 category, but for regular drinking, $10 wine works for me!

Erin, what is Sexto wine?

Erin brought it for dinner one night and I think the adults were fighting over the last few drops. It was fabulous!

BTW- I'm going to try and get my hands on the Mad Dogs before it's gone too. Which Sendiks did you buy it- ours or Mequon?

I love wine and it's always nice to drink some wine after a crazy day with kids!! My favorite is riesling, though. White is my first choice for wines!

Just wanted to say that I tried the Sexto wine last night. I'm finishing it off today as I make lasagna. Excellent! It was $15 here. Not too bad. I'd probably drink it more often if it were less, but it's a great table wine to bring to a dinner, or drink with an extra nice meal for dh and me.

Thanks for the recommendation!
