Partner

A certain litigator in our family was just promoted to partner status at his law firm. Insert big, big sigh of relief. Congratulations, Joe! To use my favorite off mic political quote ever: This is a big *bleep*in' deal!

Oh, my goodness! Wasn't it yesterday when he was taking law school classes? Wasn't it???

Super congratulations to a super good lawyer and a super good dad!

Now the bad news: my daughters tell me that partners work even harder than associates.

...But having recently met some terrific litigators in New York, I also know how rewarding that work can be.

Again, congratulations!

(BTW, sometime next week, if he has a few minutes to spare, a certain former law teacher of his has very general questions about litigation that she'd like to ask. Send an email if that would be ok.)

nina - I very fondly remember sitting in the family law class you taught. It was very fun for me. It was my 3rd year. I had an offer in hand and I knew I was never going to do anything family law related in my practice. I really just got to learn and think about an area of law for the sake of learning and thinking. That class is one of my favorite law school memories.

I'll send you an email shortly, but in general feel free to call or email me anytime.

Behind every great man is an even greater woman. We men get all the accolades, but our wives are the unsung heroes. Here's to the CEO's of our families that keep it all together.

Of all of the people I sort of knew in Law School, Joe was the one I knew would someday make partner. Congratulations, Joe!

I remember the story that Joe told when you graduated from UW law school....You were hesitating about staying in law school when you first started...only to have your supportive wife convince you to stay with it.

What an achievement...think how happy Jeffie would have been about this moment!

Thank you all so, so much!

Cheryl-- I agree. ;)

Oh, Nina, no! Say it isn't so!

Chris-- flattery accepted. As if I didn't like you and your family enough already, now you've really cemented your standing invitation.

Bob, I thought the same thing. The news would have been plastered all over the blog she surely would have had by now.
