Cable Television

I just cancelled our cable subscription. I love TV. And I love cable especially.

But I don't like paying an absurd amount of money for, mostly, trashy shows.

So it's gone. I wonder if I'll survive (just don't suggest cutting the high-speed internet, Superdad!).

What is Joe going to do without "Good Eats" to watch every night???

You are more thrifty than I am - no WAY would I cut out the cable!

Congratulations! Not only will you survive, you will thrive. You will be amazed to find how much you can get on DVD for free at the library (OK maybe a season or two after the fact, but what's the hurry?). You can watch CSPAN at your leisure for free on their website. Searchable, too. The next step will be to get rid of the TV entirely. But you've made a start.

you... er... cancelled cable when there is a project runway finale to watch?

...HELLO?!?!?!

otherwise, I'm completely with you. Cable would be gone in a heartbeat if it weren't for this internet connection and DH's addiction to ESPN.

I grew up without cable, so I feel the need to have what I didn't in childhood! I got issues.LOL

Mike and I didn't have cable for six years! We do have it now but I could go without pretty easily (once you make the initial adjustment). Enjoy more free time! :)

I've been too cheap to get cable myself, and find money spent on the internet is a better, um "investment."

Sounds like a good cookbook, is how real chefs operate through the "chemistry" of food and being able to throw together a gourmet meal with whatever scraps are available. I had a girfriend like that once *sob*
