Hey, it's not every day your husband makes the local news.
Here's the link.
Joe was told by one reporter that he had on a great tie for TV. I agree; doesn't he look handsome?

No Electricity
I realized the other day how warped my poor children will probably be as adults. The day was rainy and the kids, especially Hank, were tired. I was off somewhere by myself and Superdad was ruling the roost. Madeleine and Hank were tired. Bored. Cranky.
Hank looked at Superdad, pleadingly and asked, "Dad, can I please use electricity?"
Yes, we allow our children to use lights, clocks, etc. but what the "no electricity" order means for the kids is no TV, no Nintendo, no computer and no Gameboy. It came into being one day when Hank was feeling especially dedicated and asked if he could watch TV. I said no. He asked if he could play video games. I said no. He then ran through every electronic thing he could possibly come up with until finally, in frustration, I said,"No, Hank, if it uses electricity you can't do it right now."
The order is in effect the vast majority of the time and it is only lifted on occasions deemed worthy enough by the adult in charge (it's been a week or two since they last broke the order or I'm having an especially bad or harried day).
But really, it's funny, isn't it? I chuckle every time I hear little Hanker ask in his sweetest, cutest little voice, "Mom, can I pleeeease use electricity? Please?!" Can you imagine my children explaining as adults how, in the year 2007, their cruel parents wouldn't let them use electricity?

New TV
Here you see the old (bottom left), the installation of the glorious new and our little Hank-er enjoying Diego on our new, huge TV.
Frankly, I can't believe how excited I am about a stupid TV.

TV
This might seem like an odd post coming from someone who just blogged about canceling her cable, but our DVD player just broke. Almost every movie we own is a DVD, not a videocassette.
So. Instead of just buying a new DVD player Joe and I have been thinking we should probably buy a new TV too since I'm pretty sure our main TV was manufactured in the Stone Age.
I don't really know why we think this. We've been bewitched; captivated by all the gigantic TVs with pictures so sharp and clear you feel like you should be able to walk right into them.
What should we buy? Plasma! LCD! HDTV!
Anyone have an opinion?

Cable Television
I just cancelled our cable subscription. I love TV. And I love cable especially.
But I don't like paying an absurd amount of money for, mostly, trashy shows.
So it's gone. I wonder if I'll survive (just don't suggest cutting the high-speed internet, Superdad!).

King Vincent Libretti
This guy is so full of himself it just doesn't seem right to merely refer to him by his given name. You Project Runway fans know what I'm talking about, right? He's so bad that this interview is really very funny.
Among the designers who are left on the show, which one do you think is worthy of winning?
Myself. I love the truth, and I'll say this: If you look at the show and you know anything about design, you can see clearly who the designer was. They are amateurs. This show is full of amateur designers. I think one was way, way above and alone on the show. But I don't do the ego thing. It's not my style. But I love the truth.
Riiiiiight... truth. Not ego. Gottcha.
Oh, and I love this:
What was your favorite part of the Paris trip?
The boat was fun. There was a cute girl with red shoes and a tattoo. I have a lovely wife, but I was getting a little bit nosy with her. Catherine was a little bit too old for me. The other one wasn't. We wanted to meet later for a drink — Jeffrey and I and she and her girlfriend. We invited them to our room just to have a nice bottle of champagne, but unfortunately they canceled on us.
Hey, married guys, listen up. If you ever, ever consider inviting an attractive model type up to your hotel room for champagne...well, I'm guessing you may as well ask if that hotel has a bulk rate because you won't be staying at home with your wife anytime soon.
Yep, this guy is all class. Can't wait to start scouring boutiques nationwide for his crappy designs.
