One Month

One month has gone by already since Caroline was born? I almost don't believe it. Here she is, in all her one-month-old cuteness.

Medical Adventures: The Photo

Here is Elisabeth showing off her splint in all its glory.

If you missed it, the post detailing the necessity of the splint was posted the other day.

No!

The picture, taken this past summer, shows Elisabeth perfectly. No, not what she looks like, but what she acts like. If you say up, she'll say no. If you say jump, she'll say no. If you say put that down, she'll say no. In fact, if you say anything, she'll say no. Can you hear me? Elisabeth, can you turn around so I can take your picture?

No!

Hank's School Picture

Ah, school pictures. Some of the worst pictures I've ever had taken of me have appeared in yearbooks for hundreds to see and for generations to come. I've always hated school pictures.

Until this year. Did you ever see a more photogenic little boy?

Flashback: June 2004

Pictured are Madeleine (age 3) and Hank (age 20 months) in June of 2004 at my mom and Bob's house in Silver Lake. Their Nana (my mom) took this photo of them on her patio. As I mentioned once before, Mom was a phenomenal gardener, and she was also good at showing off her green thumb in photo ops like the one featured below.

Going into a weekend that predicts snow, snow and yet, more snow, I long for spring and the days like this that I know are waiting for me just a few more months down the road. Doesn't the scene look so warm and inviting?

Our Morning, in Pictures

I'm up, Joe's gone, Elisabeth is in her crib cooing and playing, and here, oblivious to it all, are the kids that need to be awake for school.

First the bottom bunk occupant:

Now the top:

No, I don't want to get up!

Half awake, but at least out of bed:

Sitting up, she forces a smile...

And grudgingly climbs down from her cozy retreat:

"Hi-hi-hi-hi-hi-hi-hi-hi-hi-hi-hi!!!!!" they hear from their baby sister's room. They join her:

Brushing teeth is always thrilling:

Elisabeth occupies herself in her big siblings' room while Madeleine and Hank ready themselves:

Yum! Breakfast is always the favorite meal of the day for these two:

Bye, Madeleine!

Walking to our neighbor's house, who will walk her to school:

Bye, Hank!

We have to drive to Hank's school:

Argh! Construction! The road we normally drive on is a pile of dirt. Going all the way around the ripped up road on narrow, residential streets adds ten minutes to our trip:

Hank approaches the gate that leads to the front playground, where his class meets on Tuesdays:

First, though, we head inside for a potty break:
